Τhe EnerCmed project was presented at the Open Day organized by the Municipality of Patras on 18th October at the school complex of the 6th EPAL of Patras (Pilot Site).
EnerCmed aims to transform the Mediterranean hinterland into energy positive and climate resilient communities through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions. (RECs) and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) are at the heart of our approach. At the Open Day event, Konstadinos Konstadakopoulos and Municipality of Patras EnerCmed Team presented how the implementation – of the pilot project of a 50 kW photovoltaic (PV) system – of NBS interventions in the buildings or in the courtyard will be in order to reduce the Energy Footprint of the complex and mitigate the effects of climate change on its micro-scale (urban heat island, radiation, etc.). To achieve the public acceptance the of planned Municipality of Patras addressed to the students, teachers, parents and residents of the surrounding area and asked them indirect and direct questions through a questionnaire in order to achieve the best and most efficient solution for the installation of NBS in the complex. The questionnaire has been designed to gather comprehensive data from the target community (teachers, students and parents-residents of the wider area) and aims to record their knowledge and opinion on the implementation of NBS in the school complex of the 6th EPAL Patras, ensuring that these interventions will have a positive impact on the sustainability of the area.
