Today we had the pleasure of presenting the concrete results of the EnerCmed Project at the Europe Day 2026 event, organized by Regione Liguria and ANCI LIGURIA at the Council Hall of the Metropolitan City of Genova.
Dr. Johan Augusto Bocanegra – Università degli Studi di Genova showcased what it truly means to transform a vulnerable urban neighbourhood into an energy-resilient community.
📍 In Cornigliano (Genova), our pilot site, we installed two photovoltaic systems on local school rooftops:
✅ 23,682 kWh/year produced
✅ 7.1 tCO₂/year avoided
✅ Energy shared among public buildings through collective self-consumption (ISC)
🌱And beyond energy: through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), we created an educational garden and implemented urban cooling interventions to reduce the heat island effect.
EnerCmed proves that fighting energy poverty and climate change together is not just possible, it’s already happening, starting from the neighbourhoods that need it most.
🌍 The model is replicable across the Mediterranean and we’re ready to scale it.
