Join our Urban Climate Strategies Workshop!
Tomorrow, March 6th (10-13 GMT+1), join our 3-hour interactive workshop “Integrated Urban Climate Strategies under Climate Change” dedicated to analyzing climate challenges and designing Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for urban areas. The workshop is hosted by the University of Genoa, with the session delivered by Petros Mouzourides from the University of Cyprus.
📅 Date: March 6
⏰ Time: 10:00 – 13:00 (GMT+1)
Workshop Structure:
-
Focused Expert Input: A concise scientific overview covering Urban Heat Island (UHI) drivers and their impact on energy demand. We will explore vegetation-, design-, and water-based NBS, alongside the NBS project cycle (selection, implementation, and monitoring).
-
Interactive Co-Design Session: Participants will work in groups to identify UHI hotspots in their cities, select appropriate NBS strategies for pilot neighborhoods, and define monitoring indicators (temperature, energy, and social impact).
-
Hands-On Demonstration – i-Tree Canopy: A live introduction to using i-Tree Canopy for land and tree cover classification via aerial imagery and the quantification of environmental benefits.
