EnerCmed Mid-Term Conference: Policy and Instruments for Energy Transition

07/10/2025

The EnerCmed Project successfully held its Mid-Term Conference, titled “Policy and Instruments for Energy Transition”, bringing together experts, policymakers, researchers, and representatives of Mediterranean cooperation projects to discuss the pathways and challenges of the ongoing energy transition in the Mediterranean region.

A milestone event for the EnerCmed project

The Mid-Term Conference marked an important step in the implementation of the EnerCmed project, offering a space for reflection, exchange, and collaboration among actors engaged in promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable governance tools across the Mediterranean.

Over four dynamic hours, the event gathered contributions from numerous Interreg Euro-MED projects and thematic initiatives working under the Green Living Areas Mission, as well as institutional stakeholders, local authorities, and experts in the field of sustainable energy policies.

Engaging discussions and shared perspectives

Throughout the sessions, participants explored a wide range of key topics, including:

  • Policy instruments and governance frameworks for accelerating the energy transition;
  • The role of energy communities and local participation in shaping inclusive energy models;
  • Nature-based solutions and their integration into urban and regional energy strategies;
  • Behavioural change and social innovation as drivers for sustainable energy consumption.

The final roundtable provided an opportunity for an open and fruitful dialogue among projects and institutions, identifying potential synergies and future areas of cooperation.

Strengthening collaboration across the Mediterranean

The conference highlighted the value of collaboration and knowledge exchange among projects funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, reinforcing the shared vision of a greener, more resilient, and inclusive Mediterranean region.

By connecting experiences, methodologies, and innovative tools, the EnerCmed Mid-Term Conference contributed to strengthening the Euro-Mediterranean community of practice on sustainable energy transition.

A special thanks to Green Living Areas for the support!

Last but not least, another special thanks to Stéphane Pouffary, Álvaro Manso Burgos, Paula Contreras, Konstadinos Konstadakopoulos, Petros Mouzourides, Helena Štemberga for their cutting-edge contribution in the final roundtable.
